The importance of our scores is dependent on our life experiences, and its probably quite relevant to you now. It is true, BUT at the current time point and life journey, the grades will matter to you. Some people will say grades don't matter in the end. Not everyone does better the second round. There are other factors to consider with this option, the sense of 'shame', or getting used to a new class etc. There might be the option to retake a J2 year, but that is also up to the individual. I hope that you will have friends to lean on in such times, or any other alternatives if you do need to leave home/space away from them. And this may mean scoldings/insults/gaslighting. My second retake was slightly underwhelming by my expectations, but I qualified for most courses in NUS/NTU/SMU. I still remember going for tuition, and when previously the teacher would get people to answer, he specifically forbade me from answering 'because I knew it'. It was actually clear that the school environment was bad for me, and once out of it, I made good progress in my studies.
